Oregon Faith Roundtable Against Hunger (Portland Metro Chapter),

Bread for the World and Catholic Charities present a half day interactive workshop on legislation affecting hunger in Oregon

On January 20, 2013 a new Congress will head to the Capitol to work on Budgets, Deficit Reduction and a Farm Bill.

On February 4, 2013 the Oregon State Legislature convenes to focus on local budget concerns — Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

  • Learn what is at stake
  • Learn what you can do to ensure Congress (National and State) helps, rather than hurts, people struggling to live in dignity
  • Leave with tools for you and your congregation to advocate to change the face of hunger in the Tri-County area

The day will begin with a video presentation followed by a panel discussion including experts from Bread for the World, Economic Fairness of Oregon, Oregon Food Bank and Oregon Faith Roundtable against Hunger.

Participants will have a choice of one of three breakout workshops: How to Move Your Faith into Action: Tools for First-time Advocacy; The Effect of Federal Policy on Oregon; or How to Tell Your Story: Using Personal Stories for Effectiveness. The day will end with next steps and action plans to help end hunger in Oregon.

The workshop is free and open to the public.
