Ash Wednesday message from Bread President- David Beckmann

Today—Ash Wednesday—we begin our journey through the wilderness of Lent. That wilderness appears bleaker this year as we hear so much bad news from Congress.

Lent is a time for deep spiritual and personal reflection. I invite you to join us as we observe the season with a series of meditations available through Breadblog, Facebook, and Twitter for each day of Lent. You can also find additional Lenten worship and study resources on our website.

Around the week of March 28, we will invite you to join us for a collective fast as we seek God’s leading in a time when many programs for hungry and poor people are threatened. One of our hunger heroes, former congressman Tony Hall—now executive director of the Alliance to End Hunger—will lead our fast. I will send you more details in the next two weeks.

Let us offer ourselves to God in this season and look forward to the day of resurrection.
