Update On 2010 Offering of Letters

Many of you have been asking about this year’s O.L.  The full interactive website will launch on Feb. 2 and Matt and Robin will be launching a set of State by State webinars in February. (kits will also be available at the beginning of February).  This year’s campaign is about putting more money back into the pockets of the working poor.  We will concentrate on the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) and the CTC (Child Tax Credit), both of which are set to expire this year.  There is a very good background paper you can find here:  http://www.bread.org/get-involved/at-home/bread-newsletter/2010/january-2010-background-paper.pdf .  As one pagers and more information become available we will update you.  But please, do not hesitate to email or call if you have questions or want to brainstorm O.L. ideas with us.  There is no set time for doing an Offering Of Letters but the earlier you plan, the better.

“Two tax credits in particular, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit, help bridge the gap between what a family earns through low-wage work and the cost of basic necessities. The EITC alone lifts more than 5 million Americans above the poverty line—including 2.6 million children.” (Bread newsletter).
